Tussen de oude pakhuizen en naast het restaurant van Restaurant Verheyden creëert dit een bijna buitenlandse sfeer. Een plek waar we even uit de tijd kunnen stappen. Een plek om elkaar te ontmoeten. Het feit dat dansers en niet-dansers een plekje bij Restaurant Verheyden met zicht op het podium reserveren tijdens onze salon laat wel zien dat deze sfeer gewaardeerd wordt.\nRegen? Dan gaan we naar binnen. Zelfde tijd\, maar je blijft droog. \nEN: all summer long we put the door wide open and do ‘Tango in the street’ in front of the Flor de Fango dance hall. In the narrow street between the old buildings it’s a great atmosphere.\nBad weather? We go inside. Same time\, but you stay dry \nDJ El Periodista (Mariano Laplume)\nMariano groeide op in Buenos Aires waar hij al als kind de milongas bezocht. Zijn ouders\, Lalo en Mirta\, hoorden tot de pioniers van de tango in Nederland en reisden door Europa met Osvaldo Pugliese en zijn Orquesta Tipica. Mariano was altijd ondergedompeld in de tango-cultuur. Legendarische dansers en tangomusici als Pugliese en Pepito Avellaneda waren bij zijn ouders kind aan huis. Zijn eerste dansschoenen kreeg hij van de bekende danser Antonio Todaro. Het is dan ook niet verbazend dat hij al op jonge leeftijd begon met lesgeven. Op zijn 21ste was hij een volleerde docent. Vijf jaar later\, in 2000\, ontmoette hij Cosima en sinds die tijd zijn zij samen. In 2020 voltooide Mariano de opleiding Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Trainer.
